Elephants good; Donkeys bad.

Upstairs bathroom

Sometimes I think my lovely wife prays that "issues" will arise that sort of force me into home-repair action. We have talked about and desired to get rid of the carpet in the bathroom off our bedroom for quite awhile and have known it would be our next project. I had told Jenny I didn't want to start until the weather started to turn cold. Well, the weather has started to turn, and the carpet in front of the toilet had started to be wet, and remain wet, and get wetter. Long story short, it was somehow leaking out the front and it was high time to get underway. Lo and behold (what does that mean anyway? I could probably find out at wikipedia, but I'm not that interested), the wood was rotting away from all the water underneath!
Jenny is much better than me in knowing when we really should get these projects going... I'm often dragged into them kicking and screaming, which really isn't one of my most attractive tendencies. Anyway, it's the getting started that is the hardest part. I was able to cut away the rotten part, put in some cross braces and then put down a new board. (EVERYTHING I've ever done regarding home repair has been learned from my father-in-law, Don Mayer.)

Jenny and I wall-papered the bathroom after I repaired the hole in the floor.

Many, many thanks to Jeff Ossenberg for letting me borrow his tile saw. That made the measuring and cutting of the tiles actually, I hate to admit, almost... pleasant.
