Elephants good; Donkeys bad.

"If I find in myself desires which nothing on earth can satisfy, the only reasonable explanation is that I was made for another world." C.S. Lewis

Came across a verse that really hit me:

My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare. Psalm 25:15

My efforts of trying harder to be patient, loving, kind, etc. prove slightly beneficial, only to result in eventual failure. When my eyes are on the Lord, it all comes naturally.

My four year old daughter Emily rushed to meet me at the door as I arrived home from work on Tuesday. Blonde hair flew as she bounced up and down chanting, "Daddy, daddy, daddy."

I asked how she was doing as her story about Mommy rearranging her room gushed forth in high speed.

During her explanation she stated, "It is so great! You have to see it; it will change your life."

Have you ever heard a song a couple hundred times in your life before you actually listen to the words? I had heard The Rose countless times in my 30ish years and never really knew any lines other than, "Some say love, it is a river."

A couple years ago I came across the lyrics on the internet or some lyrics webpage. After reading them I really have a new appreciation for this song.

Some say love it is a river
That drowns the tender reed.

Some say love it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.

Some say love it is a hunger
An endless aching need.

I say love it is a flower
And you it's only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.

It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.

It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give.

And the soul afraid of dying
That never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long.

And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong.

Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed that with the sun's love,
In the spring, becomes a rose.

At this point in history, it is so easy for us to educate ourselves on any particular issue. The current situation in Israel with Hamas planning and executing homicide bombings while vowing to kill all Israeli's and drive them from the "holy land" is an interesting example.

The little I know about these important events is gleaned from Foxnews internet headlines or the radio trio of Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Mike Savage. I am greatly interested in what is happening in that arena, but find very little time to educate myself on what really occurs.

There. Now that I've laid out an admission of not claiming to know everything, let me tell you what I think.

Seems that the Bush administration is practicing some hypocrisy on a grand scale. The group Hamas is outspoken in its goal of ridding the area of Israeli's. They support homicide bombers and celebrate the death of innocent Israeli civilians.

The government of Israel strikes decisively against the leaders of Hamas by blowing up the vehicles in which they travel. In my line of thought, this is the same as our government striking against Al Qaeda, Iraq, or other terrorist cells. Unfortunately for the innocent bystanders, Israel's strikes are less surgical in nature than those of the United States.

President Bush his current administration have chastised Ariel Sharon in Israel for his strikes against Hamas. The administration claims these retaliatory strikes will damage the roadmap to peace in the middle east. President Bush advocates an eventual Palestinian state next to Israel, living in peace.

I contend (much in agreement with the conservative talking heads, and nothing I claim as completely original ideas) that peace between Jews and Arabs like Hamas and the many other radical groups is not possible. Hamas does not want some land carved out of the existing Israel in which they can live side by side in peace. Hamas wants the extermination of all Jews from what they consider their holy land.

Would the United States even consider talks with such a militant, terrorist organization? No. We would do the right thing. We would crush them militarily and then pursue peace. Peace is not possible between these groups with such contradictory religions and ideologies.

Once the United States supports Israel fully, and assists them in the total annihilation and defeat of murderous, terror-mongerers, then perhaps we can give peace a chance.
