Kerry's own words...
In John Kerry's Own Words:
On Thursday, Senator John Kerry sat down for an interview with ABC News reporter Peter Jennings. Below is a portion of that interview.
Peter Jennings: "You told an Iowa newspaper recently that life begins at conception. What makes you think that?"
Sen. Kerry: "My personal belief about what happens in the fertilization process is a human being is first formed and created, and that's when life begins. Something begins to happen. There's a transformation. There's an evolution. Within weeks, you look and see the development of it, but that's not a person yet, and it's certainly not what somebody, in my judgment, ought to have the government of the United States intervening in. Roe v. Wade has made it very clear what our standard is with respect to viability, what our standard is with respect to rights. I believe in the right to choose, not the government choosing, but an individual, and I defend that."
Jennings: "Could you explain again to me what do you mean when you say 'life begins at conception'?"
Kerry: "Well, that's what the Supreme Court has established is a test of viability as to whether or not you're permitted to terminate a pregnancy, and I support that. That is my test. And I, you know, you have all kinds of different evolutions of life, as we know, and very different beliefs about birth, the process of the development of a fetus. That's the standard that's been established in Roe v. Wade. And I adhere to that standard."
Jennings: "If you believe that life begins at conception, is even a first-trimester abortion not murder?"
Kerry: "No, because it's not the form of life that takes personhood in the terms that we have judged it to be in the past. It's the beginning of life. Does life begin? Yes, it begins. Is it at the point where I would say that you apply those penalties? The answer is, no, and I believe in choice. I believe in the right to choose, and the government should not involve itself in that choice, beyond where it has in the context of Roe v. Wade."
John Kerry's Own Actions:
Kerry Has Voted At Least Six Times Against Banning Partial-Birth Abortion.
Kerry Has Voted At Least 25 Times In Favor Of Using Taxpayer Dollars To Pay For Abortions In United States.
Kerry Voted Against Unborn Victims of Violence Act - "Laci and Connor Peterson's Law"
Nonpartisan National Journal Scored Kerry's Votes Most Liberal In Senate For 2003. Kerry scored a Senate-high 97% liberal rating for 2003, beating out Sens. Barbara Boxer (91), Hillary Clinton (89), Ted Kennedy (88), and Tom Daschle (80). (National Journal Website, "How They Measured Up," http://nationaljournal.com, 2/27/04)
John Kerry says he believes that life begins at conception, yet does not have the conviction to protect life, and instead promotes abortion -- even up until the moment a child takes their first breath!

Report: Bigger breasts offered as perk to soldiers
Wednesday, July 21, 2004 Posted: 6:46 PM EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The U.S. Army has long lured recruits with the slogan "Be All You Can Be," but now soldiers and their families can receive plastic surgery, including breast enlargements, on the taxpayers' dime.
The New Yorker magazine reports in its July 26th edition that members of all four branches of the U.S. military can get face-lifts, breast enlargements, liposuction and nose jobs for free -- something the military says helps surgeons practice their skills.
"Anyone wearing a uniform is eligible," Dr. Bob Lyons, chief of plastic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio told the magazine, which said soldiers needed the approval of their commanding officers to get the time off.
Between 2000 and 2003, military doctors performed 496 breast enlargements and 1,361 liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents, the magazine said.
The magazine quoted an Army spokeswoman as saying, "the surgeons have to have someone to practice on."

Pray the Vote
When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God. The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; if the citizens neglect this duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted. Senator Kerry,
We write from our common heritage as veterans of duty aboard Swift Boats in the Vietnam War. Indeed, you should note that a substantial number of those men who served directly with you during your four month tour in Vietnam have signed this letter.
It is our collective judgment that, upon your return from Vietnam, you grossly and knowingly distorted the conduct of the American soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen of that war (including a betrayal of many of us, without regard for the danger your actions caused us). Further, we believe that you have withheld and/or distorted material facts as to your own conduct in this war.
We believe you continue this conduct today, albeit by changing from an anti-war to a "war hero" status. You now seek to clad yourself in the very medals that you disdainfully threw away in the early years of your political career. In the process, we believe you continue a deception as to your own conduct through such tactics as the disclosure of only carefully screened portions of your military records. Both then and now, we have concluded that you have deceived the public, and in the process have betrayed honorable men, to further your personal political goals.
Your conduct is such as to raise substantive concerns as to your honesty and your ability to serve, as you currently seek, as Commander-in-Chief of the military services.
It is vital that the American public have as much information as possible about candidates for President of the United States. In various ways, you have rightly called upon President Bush to be fully accountable and to provide full disclosure. In the same spirit, now that you are the presumptive nominee of your Party, we believe it is incumbent upon you to make your total military record open to the American people.
Specifically, we the undersigned formally request that you authorize the Department of the Navy to independently release your military records (through your execution of Standard Form 180), complete and unaltered, including your military medical records. Further, we call upon you to correct the misconceptions your campaign seeks to create as to your conduct while in Vietnam. Permit the American public the opportunity to assess your military performance upon the record, and not upon campaign rhetoric.
Senator Kerry, we were there. We know the truth. We have been silent long enough. The stakes are too great, not only for America in general but, most importantly, for those who have followed us into service in Iraq and Afghanistan. We call upon you to provide a full, accurate accounting of your conduct in Vietnam.
Respectfully,
Rear Admiral Roy Hoffmann, USN
Captain Charley Plumly, USN (ret)
Mr. Alvin A. Horne
Mr. Bill Lannom
Mr. John O'Neill
Mr. Wey Symmes
Mr. William W. Franke
EDITOR'S NOTE: The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth released the following letter to John Kerry, signed by 189 fellow veterans of the Navy vessels featured so prominently in the senator's campaign ads. The group's organizers explain that the veterans who have signed to date represent the large majority of those who served with Lt. Kerry in Vietnam. Scores of others are expected to join up in the days ahead.

First Lady Laura Bush
REPORTER: Mrs. Bush, do you have a favorite life verse from the Bible, something that speaks to you, or a book of the Bible that really speaks to you?
MRS. BUSH: I have a lot of favorite verses. One that comes to mind immediately is: We walk by faith, not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7). I think especially now, under the circumstances in our country, when we have so many difficult decisions and we're faced with so many challenges everywhere, and there's a lot of anxiety because of what happened on September 11th, that we do walk by faith and not by sight. We don't know what's going to happen, but we have faith. We have faith in God; we have faith in the people of America.

Kerry/Edwards fail to defend marriage...
Kerry/Edwards Skip Defense of Marriage Vote
Where were Senator John Kerry and Senator John Edwards?
As members of the U.S. Senate, did they vote to protect marriage in America?
No, both Senators Kerry and Edwards skipped today's vote to defend marriage.
Senator John Kerry skipped the vote to protect marriage, to sit at home in Boston.
Senator John Edwards couldn't find the time on the campaign trail to vote to protect marriage.
On an issue as important as defending marriage both Senators Kerry and Edwards could not find time to do the job they were elected to do.
Sure they have missed a lot of votes... yet, both of them were able to find time in March to fly back to Washington during the height of the Democratic Primary to vote against the Laci and Connor Peterson Act which would recognize two separate crimes if a pregnant woman was violently attacked.
So why couldn't they find the time to weigh in on protecting this sacred institution? Perhaps it's because their priorities are out of line with those of all Americans.
Today we have seen clearly President Bush shares our values.
During Saturday's Weekly Radio Address, President Bush called on the United States Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to protect marriage between one man and one woman by saying, "When judges insist on imposing their arbitrary will on the people, the only alternative left to the people is an amendment to the Constitution -- the only law a court cannot overturn. A constitutional amendment should never be undertaken lightly -- yet to defend marriage, our nation has no other choice. A great deal is at stake in this matter. The union of a man and woman in marriage is the most enduring and important human institution."
President Bush has clearly stated that we must pass a constitutional amendment to protect marriage from activist judges.
In the race for President, only President Bush shares our conservative values in words and action.
Please talk about this with like-minded individuals and encourage them to register many new voters to support our bold, courageous and principled President in November!

Follow-up to Kerry's "Heart and Soul of America".......
July 12, 2004
Mary Beth Cahill
Campaign Manager
John Kerry for President
P.O. Box 34640
Washington, DC 20043
Dear Ms. Cahill:
On Thursday your campaign hosted a fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall at which Sen. Kerry said, "Every performer tonight in their own way either verbally through their music through their lyrics have conveyed to you the heart and soul of our country."
I called on your campaign to release the performance that Sen. Kerry said represented the "heart and soul" of America so that all Americans could see for themselves what John Kerry thinks represents the "heart and soul" of our country.
Do most Americans in their hearts, think that calling the President a "thug" and a "killer" represents the "heart and soul" of our nation? We don't think so, but we think voters should decide for themselves by watching the celebrities John Kerry said captured the "heart and soul" of America.
Your Senior Advisor Tad Devine said that you believed that releasing musical performances "might violate copyrights and licensing agreements for the entertainers who performed and allow the Bush campaign to use the tape in commercials against Kerry and Edwards"
I have been assured that "fair use" rules of copyright would allow you to release the tapes of these musical performances to the news media under 2 U.S.C. 107. To allay the other concern you relayed to the news media, Bush-Cheney '04 pledges to refrain from using audio, video or transcripts of the event for any television, cable, satellite or radio advertising. We look forward to seeing this spirited display.
Sincerely,
Ken Mehlman
Campaign Manager

Taxes
Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day." This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government.
This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's the earliest it has been since 1991.
It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates?
John Kerry gives speeches in which he claims Americans are actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gives no explanation and provided no data for this claim.
Other interesting facts:
Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men.
Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas.
Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski
resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).
Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000.
Does that sound right?
The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

Kerry and Edwards... a real class act.
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Whoopi Goldberg delivered an X-rated rant full of sexual innuendoes against President Bush last night at a Radio City gala that raised $7.5 million for the newly minted Democratic ticket of John Kerry (search) and John Edwards.
Waving a bottle of wine, she fired off a stream of vulgar sexual wordplays on Bush's name in a riff about female genitalia, and boasted that she'd refused to let Team Kerry clear her material.
"I Xeroxed my behind and I folded it up in an envelope and I sent it back with a big kiss mark on because we're Democrats — we're not afraid to laugh," she said.
She addressed fresh-faced vice-presidential candidate Edwards as "Kid," and "young Mr. Edwards" and cracked, "He looks like he is about 18 "
"I'm going to card his ass tomorrow."
Other celebs also competed to bash Bush. Singer John Mellencamp sang a specially written song that called the president "just another cheap thug" and ridiculed him as the "Texas bambino."
Kerry could be seen laughing uproariously during part of Goldberg's tirade - and neither he nor Edwards voiced a single objection to its tone when they spoke to the crowd.
They hailed the fund-raiser as a great event.
Edwards said it was "a great honor" to be there and insisted, "This campaign will be a celebration of real American values."
Kerry thanked all the performers for "an extraordinary evening," hailed the "great producers" - Harvey Weinstein of Miramax and Jann Wenner - and said "every performer tonight ... conveyed to you the heart and soul of our country."
Who believes for a minute that President George W. Bush would ever allow that kind of trash be spoken of his opponent? He would never condone such behavior and hatefulness. I'm already getting mad thinking that anyone I know might vote for John Kerry over George W. Bush.

Dr. David Jeremiah reads John Eldredge
Interesting article Jenny found here
Re: Why does he wear that strange robe?
Are you talking about John Eldredge or Dr. David Jeremiah? I think you may have one of them confused with someone else 'cause when I googled them I couldn't find any pictures of either of them in a robe.
Thinking of Robert Schuller maybe?
I can see confusing David Jeremiah:
with the tin man:
or maybe confusing John Eldredge:
with Snuffleupagus:
I'm with you on the robe thing though. I don't trust Jenny when she's in her bathrobe.
