Indiana Bible Conference 2006 - Why study the scriptures?
Matthew 7:15 15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
Matthew 24:10-12 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,...
2 Thessalonians 2:9 9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders,
2 Peter 2:1-3 1But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
If deception is increasing and we know less about the bible, then that is pretty dangerous.
We must have discernment like the Bereans - we must search the scriptures to see that we are accurate and biblical.
It is very dangerous to walk through this world without knowing the Word of God. We know there are sharks in the water, God's Word tells us this is the case.
