I gave the lady a printout of the chronology and information on the Dakota trials/execution. She seemed interested and thankful that I had shown genuine interest. She indicated that she would be moving soon to Connecticut to work for a branch of the government that deals with Native American affairs. According to her, the 2.675 million dollars that the U.S. government agreed to pay for the ceded lands has still not been paid to the Dakota tribe.
